Seattle duo Peter Christianson and Carlos Mendoza, a.k.a. LawnChair Generals have been shaping the future of House music out of their self-made studios since 2001. Based on the brief amount of time the duo has spent manning the controls, the success they have attained is staggering. As goes the old adage, it is quality, not quantity that breeds such success. Along with their talent, both behind the decks and in the studio, and a little luck thrown in for good measure, LCG have simultaneously blazed their way into the crates, mix compilations, and ranks of the world's top DJs.
Soon after the initial jaunt into the studio, their first sonic experiments were picked up by Viva Recordings and pressed into 'The Great Escape.' Their debut EP, called a "hot house hit" by Terry Farley in Muzik magazine (issue 77 Oct. 2001), was released to widespread praise by the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Heather, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, Rob Mello, Yousef, and many more.
Then came the infectious 'U Dirty' EP on Westbound Records, containing the underground hit 'One Thing.' This claimed there was more where 'The Great Escape' came from and that LCG were more than a passing fluke.
'The Truth' on Dizzy's Lowdown Recordings is the label's most successful release to date and is firmly planted in the crates of all of the top House jocks. Tracks from this EP have been licensed for Derrick Carter and Mark Farina's, "Live at Om" CD as well as for DJ Heather's DJ Magazine front cover CD.
Shortly thereafter, LCG's next single 'Tell You Something' hit the street running on July 15, 2004. This second release on Westbound out-did the first, having peaked so much interest when it spiked several sets at The 2004 Winter Music Conference. 'Tell You Something - Else', LCG's remix of their own title track, was chosen by JT Donaldson and Lance DeSardi for their installment of Om's "San Francisco Sessions" mixed compilation series.
LCG kicked off a promising 2005 with their hugely anticipated 5th release, "You Got To / Stop Frontin'" on the Belgian imprint Aroma, licensed to DJ Sneaks upcoming OM Records Mix CD before its release.
The talent of this duo is undeniable, both as producers, remixers and DJs. They have been making dancefloor gold of other artists' work for almost as long as they have been creating their own. After dropping torrential re-workings of tracks like DJ Hal's 'Don't Give It Up' and Swirl People and DJ Heather's 'We Used To Party', LCG remixes are now on back-order.
From as close to home as Flammable @ Rebar in Seattle to as far away as the clubs of Australia and Europe, LCGs' rambunctious two-jock DJ sets have become a required experience for House-heads around the world. The LCG blend is a unique fusion of West coast and classic Chicago-style House with touches of electro, soul, and freestyle-era pop flavor. Their performances further cement the strong impression left by the music they create. And wherever the production path may take LCG, they're likely to embrace respect without forgetting their DJ roots. As Carlos puts it, "Peter and I are DJs first. We make music we want to play."

The DJ/production duo from Chicago and San Diego respectively joined forces through their mutual admiration and passion for house music. One of their earliest productions, the seminal "Here Dis Sound", on the respected San Diego based Siesta Recordings, has become the blueprint for much of the current wave of dub-influenced house music, a sound that has been picked up in the UK and Europe by scene stalwarts such as Pete Tong and Carl Cox. Both Halo & Hipp-e have also carved their own niches with solo productions, including Halo's huge underground hit "My Sound" on Siesta and Hipp-e's work with Tony (Tango Recordings) on labels such as Grayhound and Tango. Other producers from the West Coast scene to collaborate with Halo & Hipp-e include DJ Dan, Onionz, Master D, Terry Mullan and Angel Alanis. Collectively, this crop of producers have formed the 6400 crew for releases on Yoshitoshi, Electrik Soul, Shaboom & Siesta.
Follow up EPs on Chicago's Moody Recordings and Toronto's Camouflage imprints have solidified the duo's place at the top of the heap of new U.S producers. Most recently their sound has had a massive impact on U.K audiences, and labels such as Low Pressings (Peace Division), Soma, Shaboom and NRK have enlisted the production talents of Hipp-E & Halo for productions and remixes. NRK's nite:life 02, a continuous DJ mix from Halo & Hipp-e, was an excellent introduction to those still new to the tech-house phenomenon, and to those in the know it was a fantastic collection of some of the most ground breaking and powerful house music sounds around, as mixed by two of the scene's most charismatic and dedicated followers. The mix CD has since been cited as a major influence in the progressive/tribal/tech-house movement. (taken from the NRK Sound Division website)

Making a name for himself mainly as a DJ, Mark Farina has had a large hand in the building of San Francisco's house music scene. Originally from Chicago, Farina is in the same generation of Chicago house music legends Derrick Carter and Cajmere. Mostly associated with the Mushroom Jazz series of releases, Farina is known for his down-tempo but dancefloor-friendly style of mixing jazz, house, and hip-hop.
Farina started DJing at the age of 15 in his hometown of Chicago. The city's large hand in the creation of house music had a strong influence on Farina and acted as a large source of inspiration for his DJing. At Northwestern University's radio station, WNUR, Farina and his airwaves partner Derrick Carter produced a Friday night radio show for two years. During this time, Farina released Mood as part of the trio Symbols and Instruments.
Shortly after his time at Northwestern University, Farina relocated to San Francisco. Using his musical influences, Farina made a mix tape of down-tempo house tunes called Mushroom Jazz. Soon after, the album's title spawned a type of sound and grew popular due in part to Farina's weekly residency at a local club called Jazid Up. The local notoriety of the mix tape eventually resulted in a CD of the same name on Om Records in October of 1996 and led to a global tour, which Farina headlined. In 1996, he also produced another continuous-mix CD, Seasons One, on Domestic Records. The second installation in his original series, Mushroom Jazz, Vol. 2, was released in 1998, once again resulting in another promotional tour lead by the now seasoned DJ. Farina released two more mix CDs in 1998, United DJs of America, Vol. 9 (Moonshine) and Imperial Dub, Vol. 1 (Studio !K7). After the string of mix CDs, Farina released an original work in 1998, "Midnight Calling." The track went virtually unnoticed due to the fact that Farina's mix CDs and DJing appearances were receiving most of the promotional attention.
In 1999, the first in a series of CDs by Om Records meant to highlight San Francisco DJs, debuted with Farina. The CD showcased Farina's style of mixing jazzy down-tempo and disco vocal-oriented tracks. The CD was also released as a triple-vinyl pack containing, in their entirety, all the songs Farina used for the CD.

One of the pinnacles of Chicago house music's '90s wave, Derrick Carter began DJ’ing at the age of nine, spinning disco records at family reunions. Born and raised in the western suburbs, Carter was into music from a young age, but during his teens Chicago's house scene sucked him in for good. Before long Carter became a strong presence in the city's underground dance scene. "When I got my driver's license at 16 my sneak ability was validated," he laughs. "I was a fierce bedroom jock for a long time. After you mix for the love of it for six or seven years, you get it pretty tight and you can take it on the road." He got by working at dance-music specialty stores like Gramaphone and gigging at parties. Later he landed regular DJ stints at Shelter, Foxy's, and Smart Bar. Though he doesn't spin much locally anymore, when he does he attracts large crowds. Most of the time he works in Europe, where he's become a minor celebrity among dance-music aficionados :
“Its hard not to laugh on the occaisions when you’ll make 20 times what you make in Chicago on a Saturday night, but back home there are also times when you just do it for fun… So many people come up to me and say ‘Man, I had the worst day, My girlfriend left me, I locked my keys in my car, but you turned it around for two hours, and that made me able to get up in the morning’ That’s the best thing going.”
Derrick’s sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz and whatever catches his fancy. His debut single "Love Me Right" appeared in 1987, just after he graduated from college. Another single ("Symbols and Instruments" as Mood) appeared in 1989, but the Chicago house scene faded soon after, leaving Carter and other artists with few to play for except themselves.
Thanks in part to Cajmere's and Felix Da Housecat's respective labels (Relief, Radikal Fear), Chicago house made a comeback during the mid-'90s and began to offer impressive newcomers in addition to the old guard. Carter, recording for the Organico label, returned with several singles, and an album as Sound Patrol. In 1995, he began working with a live band as the Sound Patrol Orchestra. Several mix albums have appeared, including Cosmic Disco on MixMag and Pagan Offering on Pagan. Carter has also founded two labels (Blue Cucaracha and Classic) and remixed tracks from Chicago's own post-rock heroes Tortoise. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
Since then pioneering, innovative tracks and consequent critical acclaim have repeatedly marked Derrick out as once of the most important players in Dance music. Carter says that due to his growing notoriety his production talents have been requested by pop-oriented acts. But he prefers to remain underground. Although enthused about his own Blue Cucaracha label and a new UK-based imprint he runs called Classic, he's reluctant to offer much explanation of either label's MO--other than each releases records when the mood strikes him:
"I like to keep myself pretty invisible. You may think I'm somewhere, but I've already left."

If there was a house DJ in America who could accurately claim to be the most important house DJ working today, it would be Doc Martin. But then, Doc would never accept such a title even if it happens to be true, because Doc is not only a legendary talent but a legendarily humble man.
The Doc began his mission on the decks back in the summer of 1986. His focus on house music from the land of funk and disco, was triggered while playing the club and warehouse scene in San Francisco.
As one of the major players in laying the foundations of a strong West Coast dance scene, Doc has always been a master of mixing the crowd with the music. Neatly avoiding pigeonholing, while embracing a myriad of different styles, his set creates a warm unique vibe of empathy on the dance floor. Doc's legendary 8 hour sets at Flammable Liquid, Sunday Love, to the most underground lofts, and warehouse parties know no colors, age or sexual orientation. Not only does he regularly devastate dance floors in prestigious clubs like New York's Twilo and Liverpool's Cream, to the smallest loft parties, but he can also send a crowd of ravers into a euphoric groove. That's rare these days in a scene where there are sizable walls between the two ends of the dance music spectrum. While most star DJ's are one-note musicians sticking to a single subgenera of music, Doc' s live sets bring many styles of music as well as people together. In this age of specialized formats among DJ's and producers, what sets Martin apart from his peers is his ability to spin everything from deep house, acid, funk, tribal, and classics in a set, while having it all make sense. Doc is one of the most sought after DJs in America. Constantly touring, he can be found playing records everywhere from England to New Zealand, and everywhere in between. As the first West Coast DJ to ever hold many residencies in New York, he continues to spread the gospel according to Doc. Now residing in L.A. he has begun to spread his vibe through making music in the studio as well as playing it. Remixing The Mighty Dub Katz projects for Nervous Records, as well as original tracks for Moonshine, Shaboom, 99 North, and the ever growing Leaf Recordings to name a few. Doc's magic continues to grow, whether it is on the turntables or in the studio. He is a future legend of house and loved by thousands all over the world. Music over hype will always be Doc's message of love. There are no stars just dance floors and the ability to tap into their energies.

The first member is Dimitri Dewever. He started playing the keyboards at the age of 12, played in a school band when he was 16, and got his first record deal on his 17th birthday. From then on he had numberous releases on various national and international labels: R&S, Big Time, BMG, Byte, Subsounds, Mox Music and the list goes on. Because of good reviews by the press on his past musical escapades, he is becoming high in demand to produce remixes for a vast number of artists.
Then we have Raoul Belmans, who's better known from his DJ residency at the legendary FOOD club. He started to DJ on a local radio station in '91 and after moving to some other stations and playing some funky bar gigs his first real deal parties started to bump up around '94. He teamed up with Dimitri in '96 experimenting on some studio equipment. Raoul's DJ gigs nowadays reach all over the country and also France, U.K., Holland, Germany, Scotland, U.S.A., South Africa, Ireland, Malaysia, Russia, Norway, Kazachstan, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Hawaii, Poland, Canada where he rocked the place at venues like Sub Club, Bar Rhumba (Space), Robert-Johnson Club, Propaganda, Smartbar, Queen, Rex Club and in between he's also taking care of his label Aroma which has grown out to be one of the main house labels worldwide at the moment with artists like Miles Maeda, JT Donaldson, Lawnchair Generals, East Coast Boogiemen, All Good Funk Alliance,...
Under different projectnames like Swirl People, Swirl Peepz, Cozy Creatures, Different Noodles and Tiger Sprouts, Dimitri and Raoul already put out over 70 12inches and a couple of albums on many reputated recordlabels worldwide and have done also numberous remixes for artists and projects like Rozzo, Neon Judgement, Street Corner Symphony, Wizards of Ooze, Soulsearcher, Arsenal, Wam Kidz, Jori Hulkkonen, Fred Everything, Jonene & JT Donaldson, Alexander East,
